A while back I had to drill some round disks (about 100), and the drill press vise really wasn't up to the task. Then I remembered a trick showed to me, by my grandfather (who ran a machine shop). I ended up drilling the vise jaws to accept tapered pins that hold the irregular shaped objects. I had some more of the disk to drill over last weekend and again the modification was very useful. As the disks are gone, I used a grinding disk as prop.
Nice mod. I need to get a decent drill press vise. All I have is a cheapo cross vise.

Great idea, thanks! Sadly the jaws on my vice are far too hard to drill ...
Arbalest, are they removable? Maybe make a "soft" set?
Great idea Jack!!

That is a really neat idea. One of those "why didn't I think of that" ideas! Not only great for the drill press, but mill too. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow after work. Thanks for sharing.
