ml,
I think 2.2mm is a touch on the small size. Go with PixMan or if you want metric 3 or 3.5mm thread.

The top of my tool holder is 3/4" x 1.06" and I was planning on mounting two inserts back to back with a .125" wall in the center separating them. In that way I could use the tool to do inside and outside radius's.

Another forum member recommended the use of this fastener http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=250-1299

This may be a better option. I don't know for sure so take it for what it's worth. 17428

I wouldn't worry about the screw too much. Your only taking light cuts as you form the ball. It takes very little to hold the insert under these conditions. Looks like I used a simple machine screw in the one I made, let it go when I sold the 14 x 40 as it wouldn't fit the replacement lathe.

We now see where you got the some of the design for your recent successful cutter grinder. Once again "hats off to you" ole bud.
Thanks Steve.
Need to build another one but need something that fits on the compound or the QCTP. The compound now has a scale on it, not so easily removed.
