That does seem like the best solution since I don't have a shop press. Oh, I don't have a ultrasonic cleaner either. Chin

No Press, no problem, you must have a Big hammer. Im sure others have tried.
Used to be able to press drill chucks apart in a good size bench vise.

That would work, press apart, then press back together.

I've got an ultrasonic cleaner and I agree it would most likely dislodge all the "gunk" inside. But where is the room for the gunk to get out? 17428
And how do you get new grease in? Chin

My thought exactly. It may come out with the ultrasonic cleaner but how to get lubrication back in.
