Hi,

Any one done any mods to their metal cutting bandsaw?

The only mod I've made so far for my band saw is to make a wooden stand. It was going to be temporary until I got around to welding up a steel stand but I like the way it works so I'm going to skip the steel stand. The wooden stand is low so if I need to cut off a piece of a long section of the stock I just stack a few 2x4s on the floor to rest the long end on while I cut off a chunk.

I do want to make a mod to hold small part to cut off.

Hi

I haven’t done many.

Made a new stand – this is the first task we all seem to do

To help hold short pieces. Drilled and taped the movable jaw fitted a (adjusting) screw. As can be seen I still use a ‘packing piece’ but I don’t have to search around for the correct thickness I can just use the adjusting screw,

The last mod I put a brass wire wheel on to clean the blade.

Dave,

Those are two mods I need to do to my band saw. I got the brass wire wheel sometime last year but have not taken the time to install them.

As I posted earlier the only mods so far would be a light and a small table!!
I wired the light in to the main power circuit.

Jerry,

At least you can see where you are supposed to be cutting Big Grin

Having a horizontal table can be useful

I still need to do something for holding short pieces of stock. Slaphead
With the brass wire wheel - does it run parallel to the blade or do the teeth run through the wire? I'm thinking the former but it is difficult to tell from the pic. I don't have a metal cutting bandsaw yet, but it is on my list.

Parallel and centered on the blade, and loose enough to rotate with the blade.
Just deep enough to get the tips of the wires into the gullets of the teeth.
