Well guys, a couple of days a go I posted a thread looking for information on a horizontal belt sander. I made a mistake in referring to it as an Atlas sander, in fact it is a Delta sander, seems I got the brand mixed up with my lathe. Anyway I need information on the dimensions of the horizontal fence and the hardware to mount the fence. The machine has two fences a horizontal and a cross fence. I am including some pictures of the fences as shown in the literature that comes with the sander. My unit is a 1945 model, however the same sander was made up into the 1960's as the literature I have carries that dating. If I get some dimensions I am sure I can fabricate the fence.

from what I can tell from the photo most of the parts look like die cast aluminum bars with a slot in them and a hole in one end. The fence that goes across the belt appears to be just a bar with a stud in the end.

unless your going to try to duplicate the originals I don't see why some square bars say 7/8 X 7/8 inch wouldn't do the job, the long fence could cause some problems if you were to try to cast it, but it could be done.

I have already started to draw some plans from the pictures in the literature. I have been scaling off of the photographs and the parts list. Probably will have to build from the drawings that way. You are right it is a simple project to make a functional fence and a set of brackets.
