I made this 5-6 years ago so bear with me if you have seen it before. I am making another body to fit my 1941 SBL heavy 10 and my 1919 SBL 15" which has the same spindle thread. It was pretty easy to make it just took some figuring out. Lets see i have ablock of steel in my left hand and a collet in my right and i need them to fit togther. Simple enough...Bob
Bob,

That is a very neat looking ER collet holder, I see you made your own closer nut as well. DroolSmiley-signs107

I cheated there a bit and bought a closer nut.

Bob,

Can you show us a picture of that squarish looking boring bar in picture number 7?

Nice collet chuck you made. What did you end up with for TIR?

Thanks,
Ed

Runout is maybe a few thou which is better than my 3 jaw chuck.
Here is the boring bar in different stages. It was just a piece of 1/2"x1 HR flat that fits in a special wide slot on my square block toolpost (last pic) And don't let anyone kid you that a square peg won't fit in a round hole because it fits just fine. And a small setscrew in the end to hold the bit. It really will hog the metal in backgear a good 3/16" cut per side...Bob
