this pattern was finished yesterday and poured in aluminum. the part well lets just say that it was way below what I would call nice. anyway one of the problems was that the core that I used wasn't square, so I made a new core box this morning that was made in two L shaped pieces,
heres the photo, this worked a lot better then the other two that I made.

this mornings work, I got a little closer to what I am wanting in the crank handle but no cigar again as the mold misaligned when I closed it up, think I'll grab a piece of 5/4 at the lumber yard and make a flask a little more precise plus put some good pins and handles on it.

I played around with the crank handle again today, tried to pour it with aluminum this morning and ended up with a blown casting from the core not venting, then I decided to try it with cast iron and (I'm starting to think the things cursed) the gate wasn't deep enough and it froze but I did get some video to entertain you guys with.

I've been wanting to do this one for a spell now, cast the crank handle in Bronze. Well even with the threat of an Alberta Clipper blowing in, I got out in the back yard and molded up the pattern and fired up the furnace and poured about 12 pounds of bearing bronze metal into the mold and this is what I ended up with. I'll post a photo of it after I get it cleaned up some.

well when you have it you might as well use it, took about 12 pounds of bearing bronze to fill the mold, now to finish the cleanup.
