This is another project i dreamed up a few years ago and can't live without. I use it to drill small holes like for setscrews and special projects. I don't want to take the part from the lathe and try to hold it in a drillpress while i try to line it back up to drill then put it back into the lathe only to not get it lined up. Some parts i make are almost impossible to hold in the drill press so its easier to do the whole process in the lathe.

Its basically a block of steel with a drill arbor mounted on the lathes centerline and used with a hand drill. Now it can turn for angles and combined with a degree wheel mounted on the spindle hole patterns can be had real easy and the part never left the lathe. Enjoy...Bob
Some of my hole drilling projects combined with the degree dial...Bob
Few more...Bob
The only thing i regret is making it so big thats why the offset on the new drawing for the next one because the small drill bits are too long and my scross slide doesn't go back far enough for longer bits. Now drilling 90* to the headstock it works perfect...Bob
Aw Jeez, another project to add to my HUGE list!
Thanks Bob.
Bob,

That's quite a clever way to do some cross drilling Smiley-signs107

Very creative tool you have there Bob. Thanks for posting it. As Steve said, it's going on my list.

Most of these projects started when i was building my ball turner. I couldn't build some of the parts because i didn't have a big faceplate (next pictorial) then i needed to drill the faceplate because i didn't have a mill to cut the slots so i dreamed up the cs hole driller but i needed a degree wheel and the list keeps growing. It seems that all of my projects was just support for my lathe. Oh well i can do almost anything the walks in my shop with just a lathe...Bob
Sounds familiar Bob. Making tools with and for our tools.
