Bob,

FYI: Another option. You can rent a reamer and headspace gauges for around $30. http://www.reamerrentals.com/
Thanks Willie. I prob will do that since i plan on only one barrel. Today i will bend my lever...Bob
Well today i got the lever back to usable shape. I pondered for days and looked at 30 or so pics to see exactly where it was bent and where i need to beat on it to straighten it without breaking it. I made a simple fixture with plates to sandwich the the lever in supported by three 1/2" bolts and a 1" aluminum disc in the trigger area. After i saw it was going to support the right side of the lever i beat on the left end with a hammer and an aluminum bar. It took 3 tries to make it right but it worked and the gun functions correct now. Now to fit the new bolt carrier and get ready to thread my barrel blank...Bob
That looks much better!

I always hate to see guns that have been abused like that. They deserve someone like you Bob, to put them back together again.

Tom
Nice work, Bob, but you didn't show pics of the fixture.
How can I be a "freshman", I am 81 yrs.young?
I had a Winchester '94' .30-06 back in '57 when I was up north, but sold it shortly after. The lad I was hunting with said it sounded like a machine gun when
I shot at a moose. I really didn't want to kill the animal, just scare it away.

John you are right and i am sorry. Here is the fixture. The last pic is a crude outline of where it was, dark line and where it is now, red line to show how much it was off...Bob
