I have bought an early Atlas/Clausing milling machine. Its missing the head assembly, but has a good base, a viable column and a working table/knee assembly. As I have a couple of other mills, I got this to keep it from being scraped, I'm thinking about a drill press head on the mill or thinking of other Ideas. Will post a couple of pics when I get it and some during the rebuild, whatever it becomes.
That would make a nice drill press Jack.

Jack, I'd like to see a pic of your headless Atlas/Clausing. I too, am looking for a mill head up here in "the land of you can't get that here" for an Asian mill drill that has a head casting that cracked, was welded, and cracked again.
If it's the same machine I'm thinking of, I've seen a few of them fitted with Bridgeport heads and it works fabulously.

But Jack already has a good FrankenMill.

The infamous Franken-Mill
The Franken-mill has the very head that I want to replace!
It might make a passable surface grinder, with a bit of work.
Mike, if your talking about re-purposing my mill drill I have to say it would not make a passable surface grinder, even by my liberal standards. Rotfl
Yeah, but think of the interesting chatter patterns it would give you.
Its here, more photos later
