I have no idea how many melts or screw-ups I've done with this crucible but it finally sprung a leak today just as I started to pull it out of the furnace and pour the Cast Iron that was in it into the mold.

the hell I've put that poor crucible thru I truly figured that it would of given up a long time ago. One to thing to remember is to always buy top name brand crucibles when your dealng with the hot stuff.

been playing with the new blower again today, poured a mortar and pestal, along with a cast iron clamp handle for the Cinci Shaper that I have been working on.

Got a question for you, what is running after you turn the flame off? air compressor? Did you add a little ferrosilicone or is it ferrosilicate? to the iron or is that only when fired in a cupola? Thanks for posting the videos! tt

probably the blower, but what you hear may also be from the Thomas Air pump that I use which is a heck of lot quitter then an air compressor.
and yes I add Silicon to the melt just before pouring to help with graphite formation, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.

The other half

been back out in the heat making parts for the shaper. Had plans on melting 25 pounds of Cast Iron this morning but ended up only melting about 20 pounds. oil feed messed up and I only used about a third of the oil that I had been burning for the same about of run time.
Anyway here is a couple photos of the part and what the iron looked like, nice and gray in color and able to be cut with a semi sharp hacksaw.
