The good news is that all of you have seen and offered suggestions as I unwrapped and installed my Christmas gift.

The bad news is that I now need to figure out something for Bev that she will be as excited about as I was about the lathe.

Shopping for me is easy ... for her ... not so much.
Good luck with that Arvidj. Bash

Doh, busted! Yup, I spent a whole bunch of money on a new camera for my birthday so that's why Santa is broke this year. Smile

Ed,

I suspect we all would have a lot of money if we didn't have a lot of hobbies. Smile

Hoping that Bev does not read this forum,

Either hide it from your wife or go and pick out one of Rob's - he's always saying that he hasn't got enough room in his shop.  I know which one is the safer of these two options...

Rob has wives? Yikes

LOL Ed - I should have been clearer! I meant Bob could either hide the money from his wife, or pick out one of Rob's mills Big Grin

I asked for one of those Hall effect sensors direct from HK/china on ebay, 4 digit rpm digital read out.
For the lathe / mill when I do the variable speed conversion on them.
What size is your lathe? (I'm to lazy to hunt through previous posts to find out) Blush
I'd be curious to know more about the "Hall effect sensors". I assume it's some sort of tachometer?

This is the hall sensor I mean
No endorsement of that seller or auction
the little button magnet on the pulley, the threaded sensor is non contact pointing at it.

When I do a three phase motor and vfd conversion on the mill, this will give you direct rpm readout.

John, we're all hoping Deb is alright.
