Hi Tom the material is marine grade stainless that has a tendency to work harden.it will be running against silversteel. followers. the loads are very light with only 2mm of lift

The latest info is that in a effort to lighten the cylinders I will be boring out a extra 1mm . this has nothing to do with increasing the capacity from 64cc to 69cc for extra performance  you understand !!!!

Without taking the time to look all the way back through this thread, I seem to remember you selected the bore size to work with an available piston ring from a chainsaw or something? Forgive me if I'm getting confused with another engine build.

That comment was made about the piston rings on the 32x40 horizontal engine , I am flattered that you even remember it . When I bought the rings for the 32x40 I found a supplier that seems to have rings of almost every size imaginable.
When starting the design of the radial I just thought 1" would be about right and 25 mm is very close as I want to work in metric. throughout the design I try to make .5mm as my finest measurement so you could almost build it using a good engineers scale or at best a cheep digital calliper.
This is what i like about doing my own design I am in the driving seat right or wrong.

Most of the work I have been doing lately is reproducing the parts for the other 4 cylinders and cutting the fins on the top of the head and fitting the valves.

 I have now started to make the camshafts and cam boxes. one of the cylinders has been bored out to the new size
and all seems to be OK so the others will be done as and when I find the time.

In the top photo the parts in front of the completed cylinder are the felt pad to lubricate the cams and its lid
