That's how come they make carbide, no?
Mine's on a chunk of pipe that I welded to a automotive wheel rim, filled with concrete for weight. It sits on a rubber mat to keep it from moving on its own. My shop is small, so I need to be able to move the grinder a little sometimes to get comfortable. No regrets.
Here's an option but instead of a vise, put your grinder on it.
