In a quest to fill the space where the Logan shaper was I found a small surface grinder on Kijiji.
Anyone recognize the model?

He says the magnet is 6x12.
Guess the guy is retiring and selling off his shop. From the short email back and forth he only used it for sharpening. Figures it would grind.
Going to look at it Wednesday. Having never ran one what should I be looking for?

It looks like my Boyer Shultz 612. Right down to the table handwheel, the stop in the center, the little knob you see on the right side under the table and the writing above the grinding wheel (actually part of the casting) !st line: BOYER-SHULTZ, 2nd line: CORP, 3rd line CHICAGO, ILL. The difference is mine has the switch on the side, a lever.

Oh, what to look for.. The bronze bushings for the table feed hand wheel (the large one) on mine were shot so I had to turn a couple of new ones. If you want to inspect the table's ways, the table lifts right off - I recommend removing it to transport it. It's not light, especially with the magnet on it. No play in the grinding wheel. The two main lift points are the posts that stick out the sides in the back. The casing for the table's Z feed (front to back) is the third but I suspect that's only for balancing. Also, it just lifts off of the base, not bolted down.

Forgot you stole one, you still suck on that deal but thanks anyway. This guy wants 4000% more. Bloody crook, actually Im rushing down Wednesday to grab it for $400. It has to be worth that. From your model number guess its 13 inch stroke so it won't do my planer blades but I guess the planer's not working right now anyway, so why worry about that. Fun a manual on Old Wood Working Site. The thing weighs 600 pounds, guessing well made.

I don't know how long your planer blades are, but if you remove the fine stops (screws that screw into the stops that mount in the t-slot) you can get 14" out of it without running off the end of the rack, but that's about the limit. I just tried it.
You can also grind a little bit longer length piece if you have it on the mag chuck diagonally. In fact, this is a highly recommended thing to do with long work because it's very common to have the wheel hog in at the middle. That makes for a not so flat grind.
