Seriously Dave, how do you make it so shiny and nice?

Also, do you have a few pics showing the recessing being cut? keen to know the tool position relative to the face of the work piece.

Regards,
Wong

The shiny is simply done with fine emery and a little patience. I always try to make life a little easy for my self by getting a good finish to start with, by taking a couple of fine cuts.

I only have two photo's with the boring tool shown.

Thanks Dave. I'm trying to put the carriage together so that I can get started with the ER32 collet chuck. Since wife just flew off for business, I've the night to do some work, if I can get home early.

Wong
nice thanks for posting how you did it, now where did I hide that hunk of truck axle at, I need a couple of those for my lathes. your description of how you did the taper is the easiest that I have seen posted on any of the forums that I visit.
Thanks Dallen, for your kind words.
