I was going to build another bandsaw but got hooked on some you tube vids of power hacksaws. This one for example looks simple enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xvl_GwnKQ...re=related Now to find some blades on ebay. Prob will make it for an 18" blade or so. I got a FREE 28" chunk of 6" round bar and need to cut it. The guy that rides to work with me found one in a scrapyard and got it for 11 bucks with 3 blades. I have a few extra gear boxes one 27:1 and one 40:1 as well as my 60:1 but i think that will be too slow...Bob
Bob,
I too will build a power hack saw and have some parts, just looking for some more scrap to make it happen. I am making it from a rehap bike that has a gear box and a motor and has a couple of speeds and seems to be the right speed. I am using some plans that I found and altering them to my design.
Paul
What's a "rehap bike"?
A rehab bike does all the work, no effort required since all movement is controlled by motor and gear box.
Paul
Oh, rehab, I get it, thanks.
Hi
I once built one using a old wiper motorRotflRotfl
It was totally uslessBashBashBash
Well it would cut wood (just)

I started to build the Gingery power hack saw years ago and then read about the problems with the design so I aborted the build. I'll be watching this thread to see how a well designed power hack saw should be built. 6820

Hi, aametalmaster.

The power hacksaw linked by pjf134 looks interesting.

The link below shows a saw based on this design in operation.

Good luck with the project
