I chose to do the rewire by the same method as it was originally done, slightly different to yours mine had the wires and components all on one side of the board, but I couldn't even get the right wire to redo it nowadays, It was a few years ago and I think I found some spare long wires from another machine and recycled the original wiring, but honestly can't remember exactly how it turned out, I will go and open it up to have a look and take some photos when I am back on my feet.
