Ahh, Now I've played this game before,
the first truss goes up in the middle! rather than bracing the top of the truss to an end as you normally would when building a roof, what you do is knock a 2x4 into the ground directly below that first middle truss and bind the 1st truss to this upright, after the ends of the truss are secured to the beams at each end that first truss will be very secure, and you can brace the following trusses to it easily.

How about welding a temporary support to one of the sea cans?

If you're not to worried about affecting corrosion resistance or future value of the "sea cans" I'd weld that support on and leave it there, why not?
or even through bolt a simple bracket and brace to that, to seal it later just put a silicone covered bolt through the hole!

All great suggestions, but I just got brave and nailed the bottom of the truss to the blocking and hoped the first two didn't fall over till I could brace them to each other. Slow work off the scaffolding (home made by the way) over the open section but have 1/3 of them up at the end of the day. Was getting dark hence the poor phone photo quality.

Wow Greg, that is actually looking pretty good, My Dad had planned to do something similsr before he passed away and I tried to talk him out of it assuming it'd look pretty rough and very "improvised" but it looks quite respectable now that the trusses are going up, I suppose they take away the "Boxy" look.

Nice work. To be honest, I was expecting a flat roof, not a gabled one. I guess geographical location has a lot to do with that though. So where are the hot tub and the bar going Greg?

A thought just crossed my mind (short trip, right? ), if you haven't already, plan on putting some gutters across both the front and back of the roof. You'll really want to get that water away from the building.
