Gov job parts for day boss... for bad azz bobber.. axle sleeve and bushing wheel spacer fender spacer forward break control bushing
Been burning both ends of the candle home/. work  called out to measure up parts at one of the bosses other buildings . real estate agent came last night been painting getting house make ready ect....  have not had a chance to sit  read the groups. wow  didn't know this post went through cuz i sent it from my phone  and it kept freezing up....anyways wanted to show a pic of the bike that the parts are for .  Ill prob end up  make a few more parts as the rest of the bike is being put together . This pic is the one that  my Boss was originally  inspired to build his .  The Guy who ones this one lives in Germany and when he wrote im to inquire he was honored  and sent a few of the details of the bobbing customizing of the scooter . However the guy did leave of the tricks that needed to be figured out.  It will be an SS pan head motor  on a rigid frame  ... The theme is pretty much the same but his will have a lot more details in it .

Worked on machining the new ratchet ring for my arbor press this weekend. I decided to try out the new 1" Valenite Center-Dex end mill I got thru Ken (Pixman). It seemed to do a fine job of removing metal - spitting out small, tightly curled, spiral cylinders of 4140 steel. I don't know what I did wrong, but I wasn't too keen on the finish I got so I will likely take additional finish cuts with a HSS end mill.   Chin

I used another piece of round stock to make an arbor for the rotary table to clamp the ring to in order to mill each cut in a single pass. I drilled and tapped one end 3/8-16. I got lucky and found a bearing race driver in my set that was the perfect diameter for holding the ring, and staying clear of the tool path. When finished cutting the teeth, I'll use the same piece of round stock to make a bushing for broaching a keyway in the ratchet ring.

And then comes the heat treating....   Sweat

Looks good Willie Thumbsup
If the surface finish bothers you that much, zip over it with a file and or emery cloth.

Finished up my BIL's PowerStroke charging problem early Saturday morning and had some time left before the wife got home so I started on a personal project that I have been wanting to do ever since I purchased my new lathe back in 2014.

I have been wanting to machine an outboard spider for the lathe spindle.  I started by measuring the spindle.

I also noticed that the hole in the cover was not symmetrical with the protruding spindle.  The hole was favoring one side more than the other and I needed adequate clearance for the sleeve I was going to machine.

Here you can see where I roughly marked with a Sharpie where I needed to trim.

Here I clamped the cast aluminum cover down to my mill table.

Setting up the boring head to clean up some of the casting flash in the existing hole.  I would then merely move the table in the "Y" axis and offset it about .150".

Making progress.

Boring completed.

Cover test fit.  The clearance is much more even around the spindle now and ready to accept an outboard spider without coming in contact with the cover.

My rough dimensions of the spider.

As soon as I have some more time in the shop I will start on the spider as I found a piece of thick walled tubing to start with in my scrap bin.

Thanks Dave, but I think it is going to take more than emery cloth to clean this up. Most of the cuts look fine. But on 2 or 3 of them the tool decided to start chattering and making a bunch of noise about half way through the cut. It dug in and left "crop circles" a couple of times. I can feel that they are a couple of thousandths deep with my finger in the depressions. I don't know if I was running the mill too slowly, or if it started re-cutting chips, or......   17428

I'll leave the critique up to the pro's.   Smile
