Thanks Tom. I found out how badly I needed a decent work stop while working on your knurling tool project. It would have made things go so much quicker.

Famous last words.... sometime in the decades to come, when the plastic gets all snotty from exposure to cutting oil, you *might* make nice brass knobs. Or, you'll just say "eff it" and get some new plastic ones, coz' the old ones lasted so long.

Actually that's pretty accurate Al. I've decided to use the knobs I have. They work and have a nice grip so no sense in making new ones until I need to.

No, didn't lie. Just changed my mind. Subtle difference. Smile

When I got my 12 x 9 horizontal bandsaw some years ago, it was missing the work table for vertical operation and the work stop. I finally got around to making a work stop.

The holes in the body were just under 1" - I'm guessing 25 mm. I got to use one of my adjustable reamers. A few tweaks and it cut the holes just right. That cast iron really takes a nice finish. I have a few pieces of 1" shafting with keyway. Perfect. Since I've read that the work can get wedged between the stop and the blade, I decided to make a tip-up version. Ignore the lousy welds. My Miller is set up to practice aluminum welding with the spoolgun, so I used the old welder.

Not today but on the weekend...

Replaced the cheap plastic knob that broke off the clamp on my compound mitre saw (this is why I don't like plastic knobs Ed).  I screwed up when drilling the hole and went too far  Slaphead which is the reason for the snazzy brass insert!  I still need to give it the once over on the lathe after milling the grooves.

Next is some parts for a friend that needed modification.  The clamps wouldn't grip when tight, so I took 2mm off the main part.  They grip now.  The round mounts needed a radius to allow them to be screwed onto a length of pipe.  In the background is a wing nut driver for my tumbler, made completely from scrap.  It takes so long to screw the 3/8-16 wing nut all the way down to bowl.  Much quicker with a cordless drill attached.
