The thread looked good but it is not spot on

John, I'd be curious to know, what's not "spot on" about it?
Not wishing to hijack your thread John, but did you ever post a thread about the Riser for the column? I have a Warco variant that I'd be keen to raise maybe 75 - 100mm.

The depth of thread should be half the pitch plus 10 thou
125 / 2 +10
This gives 72.5 thou
I machined the core register 75 thou smaller than the thread od
Instead of 75 per side
(the thread is only half depth)

Thanks John. does that mean the root (bottom) of the thread is way narrower than the crest (top)?

The thread is not deep enough so the top will be to narrow in the groove
The root will be the width of the tool tip
I am going to do it again (i will try and do a bit of video)

Are the root and the crest not supposed to be the same minus the required clearances?
