I've been buying various supplies from these folks for several years now. https://www.sharpeningsupplies.com/

Mostly smaller hand /slip stones for gunsmithing work and several bench stones for general use in the shop. Recently I made a couple of major (for me) purchases from them. Every single order has been carefully packaged to prevent any shipping damage unlike Amazon that tosses everything loosely into an oversized box with no packing material. If they have it in stock they ship it the same day they get the order without fail.

From the first small pocket stone I ordered years ago to the tool cabinet I just received I have gotten nothing but excellent service from them. And at good prices too. It's not very often that I get to have something good to say about a vendor these days. I'm a picky old curmudgeon that complains a lot about getting **** poor service from companies that only care about their bottom line and nothing else.

These people have done it right for me from day one and I certainly appreciate it.  Smiley-signs107

"These people have done it right for me from day one and I certainly appreciate it." That's too infrequent and I'm glad you posted about a company that understands customer service.

A sad but true reality Stan. When I look at reviews I always ignore the 5-star ratings because I already know the person is satisfied -or- it's a shill.

I concentrate on the 1-star ratings to see 1) how many there are vs. how many 5-stars, and 2) the content of the review. The more details that are given in a bad review tends to lead me to believe it's an honest opinion rather than a troll.

Sadly I am going to have to revise my original review a bit here. Everything was going along swimmingly until I got to the last piece of the puzzle for my Tormek sharpening system. Around $4K spent in total. The final part I ordered was an Extra Fine diamond wheel to complete the set of optional grinding wheels available. I was not happy with the condition of the wheel they sent and asked to have it replaced with another wheel. They had me take pictures of the wheel and I emailed them to customer service. They sent another wheel the next day and I returned the original. The replacement wheel they sent is slightly better than the first, although it has the same issue with spots where the diamond coating is missing. I asked again about replacing the second wheel with one that has 100% diamond coverage and no bare spots. Now I have been told these wheels are perfectly acceptable as-is and the spots are merely paper that rubbed off on the wheels from the inside of the cardboard box they ship in.

While that is true of some spots on the wheel that came off with a light brushing (Nylon tooth brush) and are parallel to the internal ribs of the corrugated box. The other darker grey spots show pock marks under a microscope where diamonds used to be embedded and are at a 45° angle across the wheel and not perpendicular / parallel to the cardboard ribs. Customer service implied that the grey spots are clumps of excess diamonds. So they are telling me to just live with this $350 grinding wheel as it is. So much for their 100% satisfaction guarantee.

So am I expecting too much here? Honestly, I'm asking. I feel like I'm getting the same treatment that Ed got from PM on his mill. I just find it odd that the other two diamond wheels I bought from them (course and fine) don't have these spots on them, and none of the wheels they show on their web site and in their videos have similar bald spots. Neither does the Enco diamond grinding wheel on my carbide grinder.

You're not expecting too much. You paid a bunch of money for the wheel so you have every right to get what you paid for.  Smiley-gen163

Wow 350$. You should get 100% satisfaction. It looks like they would have inspected the second one before sending it out to you with out the same issues…. Nuts.

I thought that they would have inspected the second wheel before shipping it out as well, but they did not. I also got Stig Reitan involved who is in charge of Tormek USA operations and he also refused to do anything about it, claiming the wheel is still "usable as is". I"m done with both of them and moving on...
