Thanks Arvid. I'll check out those links.

I'm looking at getting something like what I linked to at some point in the future. I like the fact that the machines do TIG and plasma cutting. The stick welder part of it is just a bonus that I might use once in awhile.

Ed,

I own a Mitec Super 160P. It does TIG, plasma cutting, and stick welding. I've used all three features and have owned it for 6 years. I started a Yahoo Group which you are welcome to join:

There's plenty of information including stories from those not as fortunate as I have been with my welder. There's also manuals, photos of internals, and even a few schematics.

Thanks Henry. I'm a member of your Yahoo group and did a lot of perusing. I really should post my message over there to since that's what your group is for.

I have seen both pros and cons about these machines, but like other forums quite often the cons are from a bunch of complainers who like to knock other machines it seems.

I know quite a few people with them, some have had warranty issues that were finally taken care of and some that have been like a Bic pen (first time, everytime). The one I used, welded like a dream, seemed to work as well as could be expected. Are they as good as a Miller Syncrowave or a Lincoln Precision Tig, no they are not, but at their price level, they are very viable.

Thanks Jack. That's good to know and verifies what I've found out so far. As long as you purchase one from a dealer that's been around for awhile and stocks parts it seems to be a fairly safe purchase. That's why I'm looking at the Longevity brand.
