The Drummond round bed was the first metal lathe I ever used. It belonged to my BIL and he inherited it from his Dad who brought it from "Jolly Aulde England".
To me it was the "Bees Knees" back then, but the equipment I have amassed over the past 50 years make it seem rather "Mickey Mouse" by comparison.

Ed, tour is French for lathe. Comimg from the word "tourne" or in english "turn" makes a little more sense than "lathe" doesn't it.
Does anyone know the entymology of the word lathe?
