Flea market find - chucketn - 07-30-2013

Had a good day at the local flea market. Picked up an old JT Slocomb 2-3” outside micrometer. Can anyone provide model # or any other info?

The one I have looks like the one in the middle.
I did find a scan of some other Slocomb mikes but not this one. Does anyone have the original users manual for this style? What is the knurled knob on the end of the barrel for?
Anyone have the spanner for adjustment that could give me the dimensions? Are these spanners available or can I make one?

I think that's probably a ratchet style micrometer and the knurled knob is what you turn to close the micrometer. Smiley-gen163

It doesn't make a clicking sound. Would it be a friction type?

Yes, then it would be a friction type.
