It's already on the list Ed. They also work well for plastics.

I will second this request Ed , people keep saying things like knock the edge back for drilling brass , but not give any detail of what exactly they mean by it ...................... I am sure all will become clear once Tom gets to work on a video covering the topic Big Grin
Just when ever Tom, no pressure Rotfl

Cheers Mick.

Would tomorrow be alright Mick, I'm a little busy SLEEPING at the moment. Big Grin

I actually thought of a little demonstration of what a standard drill bit does when you try to drill brass or plastic, so this should be fun.

Tom, I, for one, KNOW what happens when one tries to drill brass or plastic with a nice sharp "standard" drill bit.
Recalling the memories would not be fun for me. Blush

Umm.. I just take a stone to the edge and put a wee bit of a negative rake on it. I guess that's hard to picture. Tom? Where's that video?! :)

Oh hey, another stunt with a stone is to round the outer tips a bit. It's called a poor-boy's reamer. :) :)

Hi Tom, I am awake now and watched the video Big Grin , top marks as usual, I was surprised to see the plastic lift out the vice Yikes I think I have been lucky so far after seeing that!
It looks more straight forward to alter the drill bit anyway so I will do some spare drills and keep them for brass.
Thanks again for posting Tom Worthy

Cheers Mick.

I knew it was dangerous, i didn't know how to solve the problem. I always used more clamps. Thanks for the knowledge! This could not be more simple.
