It is not just the static load -what happens when it is moved about.

Nice table Dave. What size is it?

Ed

Ed,
(1250mm x 660mm) 49" x 26" I was given the top piece of steel so that governed the size. The thickness of the steel top is 8mm (.315")
Similar in size to yours Ed, (even the colour Rotfl)
The steel tube is all 1.5" x 14 gauge.

OK Dave, how about this version. All 2" 14 gauge tubing but added 1/8" thick gussets.

You should be doing the disign work on ships hulls YikesYikesYikesYikes

Ed, wait! what are you planning for gusset support?

But then I don't know the Tonnage of capacity required..

Steve,

I'm thinking the same. After all we're talking about only a couple of hundred pounds of load distributed over the frame. 17428

Ed
I'm just thinking about the sensibility of the above...17428

Hell, I don't know. The tubes they're welded to? What am I doing wrong? 17428

Sorry Ed, I was just playin with ya. I thought things were pretty well settled with post #42.

No problem Steve. You were right, too much information is almost as bad as not enough. I'm going without the gussets. If the table feels wobbly I'll add some gussets. This design is done for now. Sweat
