Yours is not the first time I've seen them in reverse order. I can't for the life of me figure out why. The numbers as I posted them have been standard since the changes from cast gears to cut gears, It all began with Pratt & Whitney I believe.

Prolly 'cuze someone thought that it made more sense to number it from low to high.

I think the Chinese read from bottom to top and Arabic is read from right to left. so that may have something to do with it.  it would be fascinating to find out.
At one point during the 1950s I think, the French refused to introduce new words into there language that where not originated in France,so they invented new words to replace the imported ones. so it may be that the Chinese just want to do it their way.

Bottom line here is that it is WRONG. That marking system will ruin your day in a heartbeat. This mismarking has been going on for a couple of years that I am aware of. Not good for sure.

Bill,

Just curious, in what Book, Chapter and Verse is this written?

The word "Gospel" only means it's true. In this case it has nothing to do with the Bible. Those numbers are what they are. With your comment I am done trying to help. This is from the industry.

As you can see the metric (module) cutters are in reverse order. I have no clue as to why, but don't try to interchange them by number. I'm done with this.
