Ed,

With MIG, I would start in the center with the torch (and the part) vertical and just hold it there until the puddle fills the cavity. Try it on a scrap piece first to make sure the settings are correct.

Silicone Bronze flame weld it.

Most people think you have to have an electric welder in the shop, flame welding works great.

Just an idea..

Got'r done. Not the best job but it went better than I expected. Certainly not up to John's standards but I'll keep trying.  Smile
