Wish I had a picture. The mill/drill spindle provided rotation and the table provided the feed. He had "re-purposed" his broken mill/drill into something that line bored lugs on heavy equipment.

Any material for the slug will do, your not going to touch the weld to it.

Roadracer has an excellent point.... its just a box, you could line bore it on the lathe, you have all the gubbins you need... an excellent project with a worth while out come.

I've given some thought to manufacturing a new head, if I had nothing else more pressing to do I'd give it a go.
I just thought if there was a supplier in the US that could sell me a new casting (with the newer locking mechanism) I'd get it functional.
Guess I'll give it the "heave ho".
