Refurbishment of a aluminium box - DaveH - 12-05-2015
I have an aluminium box that is powder coated white. Nothing wrong with the powder coating I just thought I would anodize it a 'gold' colour.

I got some horrible chemical to strip the powder coating off.
This chemical will blind you, burns your skin and gives off toxic fumes - apart from that it did a good job.

Washed it and took it to be anodized.
Disaster, cast aluminium cannot be anodized - well it can but it looks crap.
I think they must have felt sorry for me because they gave it back looking like this

Are you sure you didn't tell them to give it the shiny metal camera treatment?

Nope, just asked them to anodize it. Yes sir they said - they call me sir 'cause I'm old, cheeky barstewards.
'Phoned me 3 hours later telling me they couldn't anodize it being that it is cast aluminium.
Perhaps it was me bursting into tears
