Mist Coolant Lubrication System - Wongster - 09-03-2016

Hi guy!

Been away for so long.... Machines rusting...

I bought a Mist Coolant Lubrication System from a China site but have no ideal how to hook it up to my air compressor.  This is how it looks like:

What kind of hose and/or fitting should I search for to fit into the blue ring hole which is meant for
air to connect it to my air compressor?

As I'm not familiar with all these and therefore not able to figure out the terms to google.

Thanks in advance for any help

photo looks like a push lock nylon tubing fitting, if it is you just need the right size tubing

Just push the right size tube through? The other end of the tube I would need to have the quick release fitting to connect to the compressor. The current hose on my compressor is bigger than what I can fit in the hole. Is there such thing as a step down fitting from my current fitting to a smaller one for the smaller push fit connector? Am I making sense of what I'm asking? Lol.

The fitting with the blue ring is a push-in fitting for the nylon hose, they have a pair of O-rings that seal on the smooth OD of the tubing and a ring of teeth that hold the tubing in. You press the coloured ring in to release the teeth. They are very common, particularly on pneumatic machinery. If you take it to an industrial supply place they will be able to sell you the correct size nylon hose- it is sized by the O.D,- and the appropriate fittings for the other end. By screwing a few appropriate fittings together, you should be able to set it up so you can plug the end of the coolant pipe into your existing compressor fittings.
If you need to buy online, I think they are colour-coded for tubing size but I'm not 100% sure on that.

The blue ring may also be a dust cap. Is the blue ring soft and rubbery? Will it come out to expose an ordinary air-tool thread?

As mentioned, it is a quick connector for a piece of tubing. You simply push the tubing into the hole until it bottoms out. The teeth at the bottom will lock it in place. You can get another connector of the same type for the other end of the tubing that can be attached to a regular pipe thread fitting for connecting to your air hose like any other air tool.

This is a picture of the air supply for the power drawbar on my mill to give you a better idea of how they go together.

There are a bunch of them on ebay ($5-$10) and the listings say it takes an "8mm air pipe". Here's one of the listings: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mist-Coolant-Lubrication-Spray-System-For-8MM-Air-Pipe-Cnc-Lathe-Mill-Drill-HW/222123637034?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D37108%26meid%3Dbc457d4e3a154d24bd29e5d9df71d7d6%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D16%26rkt%3D18%26sd%3D141920777955

Anyone who might be interested in one of these, Banggood has them in their US warehouse for $6.76. Apply the 15% coupon and get it for 5.75 shipped! I just ordered one - can't make one this cheap. Also the 8mm air pipe fitting is removable to reveal a more common fitting - at least I think it's common.

Thank you guys!

I didn't want to assume that all the listings of the seemingly same thing are of the same as some were spotted with slightly different configurations.

You guys are he best!

I've cleaned up my shop finally and started making simple end stop holders for an incomplete Kossel Mini 3D printer. I would like to mount the final piece of my cheap Igaging scale on the Y axis as I often forgot where I am after turning the hand wheels a few rounds...
