Tap Storage Tip - schor - 06-16-2017

Was at princess auto and they were selling off ice cube trays you use to make ice cubes for water bottles and it gave me an idea.

Nice. Too bad we don't have them around here.

Look in a dollar store, seen them there. Maybe target or Meyers?

Since I work in the medical industry, I have access to centrifuge vials and use these to store my inch taps.  I made an insert for a filing cabinet drawer.

schor, I saw those the other day, but I wasn't thinking about what to use them for. Good idea.

Excellent idea.  If push comes to shove there's always Amazon.  https://www.amazon.com/Tube-Making-Trays-Water-Bottles/dp/B00504FX4Y/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1497714424&sr=8-5&keywords=ice+cube+trays+for+water+bottles

I use the containers end mills come in. Since I have access to a shop, they're free. I tape two together; one for the tap, one for the drill. Write the size on the side in big characters.

Contact a local machine shop and ask. Chances are, they throw out a handful every week. Most places are happy to give them to you for free.
