hi don't think it was to much to by i have also used gun blue the thing with that stuff is the part must be well clean and you must oil the part or it will go rusty don't no haw good the other stuff is but bin using it for over 12 months and nothing started to rust up its either good or the cuting oil is stoping the rust from starting back up

Nice work Bob. I would have never thought to unsolder the broken drills. I will have to remember that.

I'm surprised to learn that the smaller drills were "soldered" into the tapers! How did you know that Bob?

Thinking about it - it makes sense otherwise the shank would need to be HSS. Of course, on the cheap drills only the tips are HSS which is why you can only sharpen them so many times. I guess if you heat them up either the tip or the shank will fall off!
