Finally finished my ring light for the mill. Wired into the power feed for the fan, so it comes on when the mill does, and shuts off with the e-stop. Makes things so much easier to see. Cost me a whopping $11 and a few hours time. Now to get the shop cleaned up.

Not metal working per say, but I did cut a fair amount of vinyl today.

Over the past 2 years or so I've replaced all the windows in our home with vinyl ones, and tore off all the old siding. First layer was aluminum and under it was mineral shingles. The house was built in the mid/late 50's so you probably know what they contained.

I'm working on the last 36' of the outside walls and have replaced all the old fascia with pressure treated lumber. Today I installed the J channel and soffit. The J channel was especially a challenge to do by myself as it wiggled all over the place.

I could not believe how nice the weather was today. The end of November and I was working outside in a T-shirt!

My oldest, and family, are in town this week so for the last couple of evenings we've been making molds for case parts for a project he's working on. He'll be pouring plastic resin in the molds to make the parts. One done, one in the curing oven and one to go. I'd post pics but since the parts are so shallow they'd only look like a bunch of off-white hunks of rubber.

Double metal shielded so....

Unfortunately those engineers knew EXACTLY what they were doing! They designed the part to use an odd-ball bearing that you can't buy over the counter, to prevent owners and independent repair shops from rebuilding the unit in question. They have the bearings specially made for their use only.

I need to replace the bearing in my cars distributor because after a mere 200K miles it's starting to sound a bit crunchy. Honda will happily sell customers a new distributor housing assembly (# 6) to the tune of $435 retail, but that ain't happenin....   Happyno

I did manage to find a bearing with a 12,50 ID online late, late last night. Guess I'll give it a good coat of sleeve retaining compound and pray in stays in place.   Sweat

Got the bearing I ordered today. Interesting. The description said it had an ID of 12,50mm and I was a tad worried about it being too loose on the shaft. I'm happy to say that will not be the case. Cool

Someone at BOCA bearings told me that NACHI stopped importing the original 12,46mm ID bearing into the U.S. quite some time ago.

Old vs. new bearing.

Imagine my surprise! Exact same diameter of the original odd-ball bearing.

Installed in the retaining plate and ready to press back together.   Smile

Looking good Dave - what is left to do before you call it finished?

Willie - I'd send it back and tell them that you ordered a 12.50 ID...

Noooooooo!!!!! Yikes

If anything, I should buy every single one they have and turn around and sell them on Honda tech sites for a hefty profit! Big Grin
