Well today was the culmination of a weeks project of making a bed and stakes for a trailer that is pulled behind a bicycle. The Surley company makes a bicycle trailer which consists of a frame, wheels and tong that is hooked to a bicycle to carry up to 300# of material. Many recreational cyclists use such a trailer to go camping or move merchandise by pedal power. Well this trailer was returned to my store as being defective and was replaced by the Surley company under warranty. My manager decided he wanted it repaired and wants to use it as a demo and for special events.
Well after close examination I found out the only damage was to the mount for the tong, which has been damaged because it had been jackknifed once to often. So I straightened the mount, and decided to add stake sides and a platform to to the unit to advertise the store and make it more a utility unit.

Sides were made from re-swan poplar with redwood stakes. Four door hinges were modified to hold the side units together and a little lettering for advertising.

It is nice, I built it ten years ago, it is 900 sq ft, heated floors, and well wired and lighted. Nice thing is it has an apartment above it and in the summer time stays about 68 degrees when it is 100 outside.

Down at the store, we sell a couple of them a year, and , oh yes, we do ship to Perth.

Well that is the worse bicycle trailer I have ever seen, how anyone is expected to tow that is a mystery to me - It ain't got any wheels

I built those cabinets last winter, decided I need some more drawer space and went shopping for metal cabinets, found that they all had a mix of drawer heights which did not meet my needs and they were shallow. So I fired up the CAD program designed two floor boxes and two boxes to set on the work bench. All are 30" deep giving me abut 33% more storage then the store bought boxes and the good thing was the price was a lot cheaper then the ones I could buy. The most expensive part was the drawer slides, I found a good deal out of a place on the net in Georgia, and the casters. All the drawers have dividers in them which can be reconfigured as my tool mix change.
I am planning another box for February which will house all of my milling and drill bits and milling accessories. Going to use a pedistal I have which used to support a grinder as its' base.
