move the hole in the plate for the eye bolt towards the back of the lathe which will move the balance point so that you don't have to take the motor off again

Taking the motor off didn't help much so I came up with a different solution that worked, and was a whole lot simpler.
You make a good point though. I'll have to remember that if I ever have to move the lathe again. Ed
