Personally I think alignment is the most important issue regarding digital scales. Just make sure they are as lined up with the axis as possible as I know you will.

They're more fussy about alignment than glass scales are. Ed

Any follow up on this? I have long wanted to get a set, but I know next to nothing about them, so I have no way to know what to buy.
Full of ideas, but slow to produce parts

I haven't stepped foot in my shop for many days so no real progress other than a bracket I was making for the DRO is still in the mill vice, almost done. I've been busy helping my brother with his move from Arizona to Tennessee. They left Saturday so I can finally get back into the shop. Ed

Got the scales cut to length and mounted. I still need to align them after I get the read heads installed. That's for tomorrow. Ed

Ran into a few snags mounting the read heads. Hopefully I'll get them sorted out today.

X axis is functional.
 Still need to set up an indicator and make sure the DRO is displaying the proper numbers. Ed

The Y axis is now working. I need to do some final alignment though.
