Craigs List ... not sure if it was worth it or not
#1
I had mentioned in another thread that I had purchased a "box of stuff" from an estate sale on Craig s list. I finally laid out everything to see what I actually had. As a side note, these photo's were taken in the drive way. You will note (a) the lack of snow and (b) the great sunshine ... two phenomena that have not been seen in Minnesota for many weeks!!!

I know what several of the items in the first photo are, like the bull nose and the bearing live centers. The other stuff I will need to figure out.

I do not think I will need to buy any carbide tool bits anytime soon. I already had some but now I have many more.

Now will I need to buy any drill bits. Regretfully I already had an inexpensive 115 bit set and a Silver and Deming set so most of these are duplicates ... or triplicates ... of existing tooling.

The chucks are, from right to left, a Jacobs JKP 160-36, an Albright 1/32 - 1/2, an Enco, and Enco and an LSA. I will need to find a pair of "drill chuck wedges" so I can remove the R8 adapters and replace them with MT3 for the lathe or NMTB for the mill.

A vice. Not a Kurt, or even a Kurt clone, but it is 6 inches wide and opens to 6.75 inches. I have a Kurt D688 so maybe this will be "the other vice" when two are required to hold long stuff on the mill.

A CXA [300] tool post and tool holders, a BXA [200] tool post and tool holders. As noted in the other post, I already have a BXA tool post so anything CXA related and the BXA post are redundant. Also a collection of seriously sized indexable toolholders. A small assortment of expandable collets and a few things I am not able to identify.

Two cast iron 14 x 10 surface plates. They do need some TLC ... a little very light surface rust ... and I will be coming back to the list to get a clue as the best way to address the issues ... hopefully without having to go thru a whole "acquire the tools and learn how to scrape" incantation. I do have the ubiquitous Grade B 12 x 18 granite surface plate if it comes to that, just do not have a big desire to do the scraping.

A 12 inch Grade AA square, a set of 2x4x6 blocks, a couple of surface gauges, a pair of bevel protractors, and other odds and ends.

For $350 I don't think I made out too bad on the lot, and I may be able to recoup some of the funds by selling some of the redundant items. We will see.
