Trying to figure out the correct diameter and spacing of the bearings to use for a given range of shaft sizes and center height in relation to the "V" makes my head hurt just thinking about it. Math is not my favorite subject...
So that should have been the question in your original post - "How do I figure out the bearing spacing..."
I'm sure there are a few on here who can help out. Your other option is to get two bearings and set them up in your bench vise, using a bolt through each to enable them to be gripped and still spin. You can then adjust the gap between them and see how different sized shafts fit. Not the most technical way but might solve your problem.
