32x40 H Gas Engine
#21
Back to work again on the little engine.
I have separated the piston blank and mounted it on a Morse collet ready for machining,
the liner has been roughed out and is waiting for the cylinder barrel.

starting work on the blank for the barrel what appeared to be mill scale turned out to be a stop in the casting causing a flaw through the bar, a call to the supplier got a new bar in the post pronto and a big apology.

Looking around for something to do I did the valve timing diagram Just another thing out of the way.

I have changed my mind about the crank case an have decided to make it from 10mm alloy plate.
So i am now twiddling my thumbs waiting on the postman again

O K so now we have the blank size within .002" of spec , the lump at the top will be the rocker arm support.
Hang on you have not got the updated drawing. this is changing as we go along.

I think that's it hard to read these thumbnails.
now the pic

This was then marked for the center of the bore to take the liner.

Then carefully set up in the mill and a pilot hole drilled.

Finally opened up to 12mm,

That's all for now

Recess for the liner put in.

Water jacket space bored out, and a little more work on the rocker support.
