Customizing a field stock for a pump shotgun

Thanks for the input guys. The local Home Depot has a Makita 12 inch sliding bevel miter saw available for rent, which sounds good to me because I would like to be able to do the deed in one smooth cut. The stock is 4-3/4" tall. I'll have to head over there and see what they offer up for blade choices on their rentals. I might not get a choice!  Sad

I actually have one of those Japanese style hand saws. I have a regular cross-cut handsaw too. I couldn't cut a straight line with either one of them if my life depended on it. I just don't have the wood "gene".  Sadno
