Shop Fire lesson from Garage Journal

I gave up on the metal buckets from Home Depot, and just carefully use 5 gallon Homer buckets. Wouldn't do at all to toss a hot part into the bucket and have it melt through the bottom.

I actually have a large amount of 3/16" stainless steel drops from a decorative railing job I'm struggling to finish. I could make the bucket from hell with all the spare time I don't have. :)

I always hang any solvent or oil soaked rags on the edge of the can where they can get lots of air. Didn't realize that linseed oil would spontaneously combust like that. Yikes

There you go that's what I was taught, and is true.

common problem in the floorsanding industry .when sanding floors that have been oiled,( back in the 70s a lot of builders oiled new floors to protect them during construction ) never leave the sawdust in the sanding machines dust bag .it must be emptied outside and not left on the machine or in the bag  overnight  . it will self combust .
