Big live center for lathe.

Just for the record folks, Neither Bob nor Rob used the wrong bearings, whether you call these Bull, Cone or Pipe centres they take far greater radial loads than they do axial loads which is the opposite of a normal rotating centre, this is as a result of the bearings being inside the rotating cone and as a function of the fact that the pipe being supported usually locates about halfway up the cone surface and as a result the load is transmitted to the unit midway between the two bearings.

I have a Rohm MT5 5" diameter cone centre that has exactly the same design as Robs centres, so did Rohm get it wrong? or is someone just being picky without due cause?

Regards
Rick
