The drawer slides were made from oak from the two boards I purchased, I ripped the 1x6 in half and made square sticks which were .030 x .030, then with the mill cut groves in the sides of the box to reset them .015", leaving half of the runner sticking out from the box wall. the drawer sides were notched, with the mill, to accept the runners. It was a little tricky getting both sides to align, but after a few hours and some adjustments, everything worked out.
If I built another I would just glue the runners to the side of the box and make then half as thick.
