Well now you want to put me to the real test!
Tooling is a hand ground HSS cutter.
Cutting speed was slowest in back gears, my chart says 20RPM, however the chart did not come with the lathe.
Material is W1 tool steel.
Method of measuring may not be up to snuff. I looked up the outside dia. in SB's "How To Run A Lathe" and turned to that dia.. I had threaded rod and nuts to refer to as well. I ran the threads until I could thread the nut on. Then I hit the crest of the thread with a mill file and I chased a small triangular needle file down each thread until the nut turned on very smoothly. (I suspect the needle file may be cheating???)
I suppose that is LJP specifications and not Standard Specifications. I will be more careful next time!
