Needed to true up a 4 foot chunk of 2 inch sched 40 black pipe. Horible stuff to get a finish on and not deflect in the middle, I hate follow rests.
Someone showed a shear tool on one of the other forums, never heard of one before.
Ground one up from 5/8 HSS and gave it a shot.
Roughed the pipe round at 5 or so thou DOC and .0175 in/rev feed at 200rpm. Unbelievable finish with little to no chatter.
Made a vanity pass at 2 or so DOC and .008 in/rev and 200 rpm.
No taper overall, about 1/2 thou over in the middle.
Im sold on this cutter, guess you can't hog metal with it but you can't hog on black pipe anyway.
Held in the three jaw and three jaw tailstock chuck.

Free advice is worth exactly what you payed for it.
