Thanks Ed. I just wish I could remember to stop and take photos during the process because a picture is worth 1000 words.
A great many parts made on CNC mills, especially at my friend Russ' shop, are done by milling the full profile and top geometry features in the first setup on a taller piece of stock. The second op it usually just to mill the excess off the bottom, making the multiple pieces and sometime a second op on the same side once the overall thickness is down to size.
