Duty cycle is the amount of time the signal is active in one cycle. So with a 20mS square wave for instance, if the time it's high is 10mS and the time it's low is also 10mS then it's a 50% duty cycle. If it's high for 15mS and low for 5mS then it's a 75% duty cycle. Clear as mud.

All interesting stuff this electronics lark ,lots to learn . Changed a few settings on the function generator (something else I need to learn how to drive ) to change the duty cycle .
